Overview
By default, Announcements can only be managed by Jira Administrators.
Of course, that's not always ideal, and you might want others on your team to have the ability to create announcements.
To solve that, Simple Announcements integrates with Jira Global Permissions, allowing you grant the ability to manage announcements to specific user groups.
Granting Non-Admin users Manage Announcements Permissions
To grant non-admin users the ability to manage announcements, navigate to the Jira "System" settings in the Jira menu, and then clicking on Global Permissions in the left sidebar navigation.
You'll see all of the global permissons available. This includes some of the Jira system permissions, as well as permissions added by any app (including ours).
The permissions for Simple Announcements are:
Permission | Description |
|---|---|
Announcer Manage Announcements | Lets a user manage global announcements. |
Announcer Manage Project Announcements | Lets a user manage project level announcements (Service Desk only for now). |
Jira global permissions only support user groups. You can either use an existing group, or create a new one by going to User Management 🠊 Groups, and then creating the group.
tip!
Once the group is created, add the users you want to manage announcements to that group.
Granting Permissions to a Group
To add a group to one of the permissions, scroll to the bottom of the screen, and use the Grant Permission form.
note:
Users that want to create a project-level announcement still need to have access to that project.
