Announcement Scope

Announcement Visibility is generally determined by the Type of announcement you're creating. Both Global and Public announcements show on every screen possible, except that Global announcements only show to authenticated users, while Public announcements only show to unauthenticated users.

Starting Announcement 2.0, we renamed the announcement type “Customer” to “Project”.

Project type announcements will allow you to select one project and which screens within that project to display the announcement on.

You'll notice that neither of those 2 options let you specify specific projects to announce anything to.

Project-Specific Announcements

Project Announcements are the only type that let you specify a project, and select which screens to show the announcement on.

In addition, Project Announcements that have at least one service desk option enabled are specific to Service Desk, and as such, can only be shown in service desk projects, and the announcement is only shown to Service Desk customers. Your Jira users would not see this type of announcement.

Project Selection

For the Space field, select the project space that you want the announcement to appear.

Groups and Users Visibility

These options determine whether an announcement will be shown to a specific user or group.

Go to the Specific Users section and select one or more users or groups to show this announcement to. These fields are optional. You can click the small “x” icon to remove groups or users from the selection.

Issue Fields Visibility

These optional visibility criteria controls whether an announcement will appear on an issue for insertion.

Go to the Issue Fields section and set issue or ticket specific options. These fields support multiple selections. Use the small “x” icon to delete items from their respective field selection.
